Photographer John Maher catches a glimpse of the departed
So many of the images I see of the Outer Hebrides portray the area as a haven of beautiful beaches, aqua marine seas and stunning scenery, with little or no evidence of human habitation. It’s a tourist board’s take on the islands. Many of my photographs feature that same stunning scenery but it’s there merely to serve as a backdrop for the main subject; something that connects people with place.
It could be a house, an old vehicle or something else that demonstrates people exist, or existed, within that environment.
